Beirut Summer Workshop at LAU
This 10-day intensive summer workshop will focus on the regeneration of a designated village in southern Lebanon that was destroyed during the 2023-2024 Israeli bombardments. The workshop will bring together students, professionals, and international experts to develop innovative, sustainable, and culturally sensitive regeneration schemes. The proposals will address socio-spatial fragmentation, cultural preservation, and economic revitalization, while promoting social equity and community engagement. The workshop will culminate in tangible proposals, including architectural prototypes, urban strategies, and community-based initiatives, which will be exhibited and potentially published by LAU and its partners. This summer workshop is not just a standalone event but a vital component of LAU's broader commitment to supporting southern Lebanon's recovery and resilience. By participating, students will not only gain valuable skills and experience but also contribute to a larger, ongoing effort to rebuild and regenerate communities affected by conflict. Their work will lay the groundwork for the Monitoring Cell, ensuring that reconstruction efforts are sustainable, inclusive, and impactful. Through this initiative, LAU reaffirms its role as a leader in education, research, and community engagement, empowering the next generation of architects, planners, and environmentalists to create a better future for Lebanon.
